UGC NET Syllabus Change
There is going to be a change in the syllabus of National Eligibility Entrance Test (NET) for becoming Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in universities after six years. Experts of University Grants Commission (UGC) have prepared the syllabus of all 83 subjects of UGC NET exam under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. UGC Council has also approved it. It is likely to be implemented from June next year.
UGC Chairman Professor M Jagadish Kumar said that after six years, the syllabus of UGC NET exam is being changed.
The change in the syllabus has been approved in the meeting of the UGC Council held on November 3. Soon the draft of the new syllabus will be shared with the states and universities and it will be uploaded on the UGC website. The new syllabus of NET will be released based on the suggestions received from all the stakeholders.
There was a change in the year 2017
Professor Kumar told that earlier in the year 2017, changes were made in the Syllabus of UGC NET. After this the new education policy came into force, hence under NEP a new syllabus of all 83 subjects of UGC NET has been prepared. The committee of experts has focused on multidisciplinary approach and holistic education in the new syllabus.
Examination is held twice a year:
University Grants Commission conducts NET twice a year. The responsibility of conducting the examination is done by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and this examination is held every year in 2-4 June and December. Negative marking is also done in this computer-based national entrance examination.
